AMRO supports capacity building with Cambodia’s real estate and mortgage business regulator

Mr. Tetsuya Utamura, Deputy Director of AMRO, receives a delegation from Cambodia Real Estate Business and Pledge Regulator (REBPR), led by Mr. Chamnan Sieng, Director of Research, Training and Cooperation Department, for a special session for training AMRO services.

SINGAPORE, 1 December 2022 – A delegation from Cambodia’s Real Estate Business and Pawn Regulator (REBPR), a newly formed government body under the Cambodia Non-Banking Financial Services Authority, visited the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) in November. 29 to participate in a customized training course in the financial surveillance and regulatory framework for the real market. AMRO economists provided the training as part of technical assistance (TA).

In his opening address, Mr. Tetsuya Utamura, Deputy Director of AMRO, presented the expanded activities of AMRO TA and thanked REBPR for participating in the training. He emphasized the value of mutual learning and hoped that the REBPR would benefit from insights from other countries to provide assessments and mitigations of critical risks in the real estate sector.

Mr. Choi concluded the training by saying it was a special session because the participants and AMRO country teams could learn a lot through the exchange of views on the critical areas of weakness in monitoring in the real sector in Cambodia. He said AMRO would be happy to continue providing such training based on member requests.
